The 2021 Game Awards kicked off last night, mixing the year’s winners (It Takes Two, Deathloop, Kena and a few more) with fresh game trailers and real compelling new releases, including Alan Wake 2. (Right now I’m finally playing through the original, that got my attention.)
TGA
We also have a release date for Final Fantasy VII Remake on PC, new Star Wars, Dune and Star Trek games and several (ten, actually) Lady Gaga hits come to Beat Saber. Maybe there is something for every player.

Oppo
Oppo launched its first foldable smartphone almost three years after unveiling a prototype. The Find N looks like a device based on Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series, which was developed after “four years of intensive research and development and six generations of prototypes”. Expect to hear more next week at Oppo’s Inno Day on December 15 – which is good as the company hasn’t released many specific specs yet.
He played a key role in the history of game consoles.
Masayuki Uemura, the lead creator of Famicom and Super Famicom (also known as NES and SNES), died on December 6th at the age of 78. Originally employed by Sharp, Uemura first got involved with Nintendo after Gunpei Yokoi asked the company about Sharp’s use of solar cells to make lightgun games. Uemura joined Nintendo in 1971 and the company released gun games, including a home-friendly game called Duck Hunt (yes, the predecessor to the NES title). In November 1981, Uemura was commissioned to build a machine that would allow you to play arcade games on your television. The result was the Famicom, known to the rest of the world as the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1983.
Alexa Internet has been around for 25 years.
Before Amazon’s Alexa became known as the company’s voice assistant, that was the name of its web ranking site. It was founded in 1996 and some time ago it became known for analyzing web traffic and listing the most popular websites in the world.
Although Amazon didn’t specifically say why it was shutting down the service, Alexa Internet traffic has reportedly decreased over the past decade. At least the name will live on in the smart speakers, displays and Co. from Amazon.
Retro style binge watching.
Parent
Paramount + adds 18 live channels (just like watching TV). The first batch includes one that is solely focused on Star Trek and will stream episodes from new shows like Discovery and Picard and classics like Enterprise and The Next Generation. (I’m not sure if Enterprise is a classic, but you know what I mean.) There are also franchise-specific channels for Survivor, The Challenge, and, oh boy, PAW Patrol.
Good luck parents.
