watchOS 8.3 causes charging problems for some Apple Watch users

Apple recently released their new watchOS 8.3 software update for the Apple Watch and there are now reports of some Apple Watch users having charging problems with their device.

According to a number of reports on Reddit, MacRumors forums, and Apple Support Communities, some people are having trouble chatting on their Apple Watch. A Redditor shares more details below.

Updated my watch to 8.3 last night, put it on my third party charger this morning, came back after an hour and was up maybe 2%?

I tried the same with my wife’s watch and her third-party charger, with the same result.

Plug it into the official charger, zoom in and charge in next to no time. Argh!

Does anyone else see the same thing? Is this something they could fix in the future or are my third party options useless now?

They also tried restarting their Apple Watch, as well as their iPhone, but after the restarts, they still had the same issues with charging the Apple Watch. It’s not yet clear how many people are affected with watchOS 8.3.

There doesn’t seem to be any official statement from Apple yet as to what the problem is, we anticipate it will be fixed in a future software update.
