Chrysler’s first concept electric vehicle could offer a range of up to 400 miles

Electrified pickups and SUVs may be all the rage, but there seems to be a lot of room in the EV market for more battery-powered cars and crossovers. Chrysler presented its first fully electric vehicle concept, the Airflow, at CES 2022 on Wednesday.

“The Chrysler Airflow Concept represents the future direction of the Chrysler brand and provides a glimpse into the dynamic design, advanced technology and seamless connectivity that will characterize the all-electric portfolio we aim to achieve by 2028,” said Chris Feuell, CEO of Chrysler in a press release.

As a concept vehicle, the Airflow has almost every bells and whistles that Chrysler could include, for example an in-vehicle camera for video conferencing in the vehicle as well as the company’s new E / E (electrical / electronic) and software platform, STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit and STLA AutoDrive. STLA Brain serves as the vehicle’s central controller and enables it to receive OTA updates. SmartCockpit, on the other hand, operates the Airflow infotainment system and offers navigation and voice control as well as an on-board app store for drivers and passengers. Autodrive will reportedly offer Level 3 self-driving features with the ability for further feature enhancements through these OTA updates.

The Airflow concept is equipped with two 150 kW engines that give the crossover AWD capabilities and a range of 350 to 400 miles estimated by Chrysler. The exterior design details include full-width LED taillights and 22-inch rims, while the leather-bound interior has custom climate controls, separate dashboard touchscreens for the driver and front passenger (as well as screens on the seat back for both rear passengers) and Ambient lighting that changes depending on the preferences of the passengers and the playback on the central displays.

The ambient lighting in the Chrysler Airflow Concept appears in direct lines, gives it modernity and adapts to the mood of the interior and changes depending on the preferences of the passengers and the content of the displays.

The Airflow, which hits the market in 2025 is just a concept vehicle and could – and likely will – look and function a little differently than what was announced today. Looking at you promises level 3 autonomy.
