LinkedIn will be adding clubhouse-style audio events this month

LinkedIn has been working on at least one clubhouse-style live audio room feature for now last march. This will now be rolled out this month as part of a new event platform.

It is planned that the organizers can host virtual round tables, fireside chats, and other types of discussions as they see fit, LinkedIn said TechCrunch. Hosts can moderate discussions while attendees can talk to each other during and after the events. Events are held on internal tools developed by LinkedIn.

To begin with, LinkedIn hopes members will thrive Community of creators (those who develop and share content on topics such as career development) will host events. Across the board, LinkedIn aims to get larger organizations involved in running events.

A video version of the feature will be available in the spring. Allegedly, the organizers won’t be able to charge for access for the time being, as LinkedIn currently has no plans for tickets with admission tickets.

Clubhouse exploded in popularity when it debuted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and people stuck at home looked for ways to connect remotely (the invite-only approach also created an air of exclusivity). Other big tech companies have created their own versions of live audio rooms, including Facebook, Twitter and discord. LinkedIn may be a little late, but its interpretation of the format could prove to be a success in the long run, as many of its users are eager to learn from those willing to share their knowledge, experiences and insights.
