First out of the gates in 2022, OnePlus has a new flagship for anyone who is already looking for a smartphone update. The company is reluctant to reveal absolutely everything (well, most things), but that hasn’t stopped Leaks and rumors a 6.7-inch display with high refresh rates and the latest technology Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
It followed on Tuesday evening with a flurry of specifications. This includes a 120Hz Fluid AMOLED with LTPO screen, which means the phone can adjust its refresh rate to help save battery life. There are no details on the screen size, but the rumors suggest it is a fairly large 6.7-inch display. OnePlus will include 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging in its new flagship, which should be correspondingly fast when the 5,000 mAh battery needs to be charged.
The OnePlus 10 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip that runs Android 12 with the OxygenOS tricks and aesthetics of OnePlus. For cameras, expect 48- and 50-megapixel sensors with an additional 8MP sensor too. Optical zoom? We don’t know yet, but the camera array will incorporate dual optical image stabilization designed to help deliver sharper images, less noise, and better low-light performance. However, the camera performance of the OnePlus 9 Pro was one of the weaknesses of an otherwise impressive smartphone.
Hopefully the 10 Pro can get this wrong. OnePlus has described some of the upgrades it is making to the Hasselblad camera, including a new RAW + capture mode that tries to combine the editing area of images in RAW format with computer photography, which should result in increased dynamic range and noise reduction.

The phone also has a new 150-degree ultra-wide camera with a new fisheye mode. If you’re concerned about stretched faces in group shots, don’t worry: there is a more “traditional” 110-degree FOV that includes distortion correction for the outer edges of a shot.
OnePlus says its new “Billion Color Solution” means that photos on the 10 Pro cover a 25 percent wider DCI-P3 color space and the phone can process 64 times more colors than the OnePlus 9 Pro. It says that this will remove any indication of color streaks from the recordings.

In addition, each camera on the OnePlus 10 Pro can take photos in 12-bit RAW, with Hasselblad using Natural Color Solution. The phone also has a new RAW + format that allows you to edit to your heart’s content while still taking advantage of the computerized photography assistance. OnePlus has offered a few samples, but we’ll understand better when we can test the new flagship later this year.
The big challenge could be balancing price, specs, and features so it offers enough to compete against the high-end phones from Apple and Samsung. At the same time, it has to offer noticeably more than it is cheaper Nord telephone series.
The OnePlus 10 Pro will hit the market for the first time in China on Tuesday, January 11th.
