WhatsApp may soon release two highly requested features. The first is one that iPhone users have been waiting for since the company made it possible Samsung Galaxy owners and later those with pixel phones to migrate their chat history from an iOS device. Discovered in the mail by The edge, WABetaInfo found evidence of a feature in the latest beta version of WhatsApp iOS that will allow you to migrate your chat history from Android to iOS. The discovery builds on an earlier outlet made in September.

Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo suggest that the app will ask for your permission before it starts migrating your chat history. We also know from the earlier leak that you have to use Apple’s Switch to the iOS app as part of the transfer process. On Android, the same process can be complicated since you need a Lightning to USB-C cable and a phone that’s either brand new or recently factory reset.
in one separate article WABetaInfo, released over the weekend, noted that WhatsApp is also working on a two-step verification feature for its desktop and web clients. Should the company go ahead with a disclosure, you can use the tool to add a personal PIN to your account. That way, every time you want to access WhatsApp, either through your computer or online, you’ll have to enter that passcode, as well as the six-digit PIN that WhatsApp sends to your phone to do so. This is something that will protect you from SIM swap attacks.
It’s unclear when the company plans to release either feature. A month before the migration launched on Samsung devices, WhatsApp Will directed Cathcart said it would arrive on iOS phones “soon”.
