“The problem with current balance boards is their lack of progression and difficulty. They typically use a cylindrical object to work along a single axis, making them quick to master. Thus, they become obsolete in training or rehabilitation regiments. This is why GNARBOARD uses a sphere instead of a cylinder. The ball allows movements up to 360°. Let’s say you put a ball under a flat floorboard with no groove.
Once stood on it, you would see that leaning slightly in any direction would propel you in the direction you are leaning, minimizing the balance required to stay upright. That’s because physics is working with you. The addition of a groove restricts the ball in the directions it can naturally travel, making the driver responsible for counteracting the physics that are now working against you.
